Tree Ferns

Tree Ferns abound in our 10,000m² of shade and tunnel houses. Tree ferns are a must for every garden - the variety of fronds look attractive all year round and suit a wide range of conditions. As our tree ferns are well established in their 2 to 45 Litre containers, this helps to eliminate the 12 month "hoping they'll grow" period, which is experienced with bare-root bush plants.
So your 12 months care after planting our ferns will be rewarded with a majestic display of NEW ZEALAND!!!

Ground Ferns

Most of our Ground Ferns start carefully grown from spores (which can take up to 2 years to our 1.5L Grade) which produce consistent superior plants. We grow both native and exotic ground ferns to give you an expansive range of varieties and leaf types with native ferns producing fronds most of the year and exotic varieties usually having an attractive flush of new growth in the spring. Many ground ferns grow in nature on the edge of the bush rather than in deep shade, and don't like wet feet, but prefer a cool well drained root run.

NZ Fernz Ltd is a family business that started in 1974, supplying ferns to the Christchurch Market.

In 2002, a 2 hectare block was developed and now has 10,000m² of plastic tunnel and shade houses supplying throughout New Zealand.

The area is devoted from minute Spore growing to 3m high Tree Ferns.

Supplying Garden Centres, Nurseries, Landscapers, Developers, and for Revegetation.

Situated 5km North of Westport the property enjoys remarkable growing conditions.

The quality of the plants proves it. It has a mild climate without extremes of temperature.
